Preparatory Social Responsibility

To Inspire So That All Flourish

ST DUNSTAN'S COLLEGE

Social Responsibility Projects - 2024

The Preparatory School is involved in various social responsibility projects every term. Our motto “I Serve” remains core to all our projects, the growth of each individual, within the group, is also important. We strive to encourage all the pupils to be aware of people and organisations in need around them, within our communities and those further afield. It is through the various termly service projects that we aim to instill the importance of service and generosity. Generosity in giving but also generosity of one’s time.

In addition to each Grade’s termly service project we also support various organizations. We are a proud supporter of the SA Guide Dogs Association and have sponsored 40 Guide Dogs to date. Project Feed the Children is supported bi-weekly with donations of sandwiches and grocery items. Reach for A Dream “Slipper Day” is a highlight on our service calendar. Mandela Day is celebrated with a collection for Hospice and various service activities are completed as well. The soup kitchen at St Dunstan’s Cathedral is assisted with donations of “Jars of Hope” to supplement the meals that are prepared for the folk in need.

An Easter Egg collection is held before Easter and all donations are distributed to various organizations and charities within our community. A “Winter Warmth” collection in honour of our patron saint, St Dunstan, is held in May and again items are distributed within the community.

“The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.”
– Mitch Albom
